The Regional Police Commander Kigozi Lameck said in a statement on Monday that such hasn't happened in the region.

He termed the allegations as rumours orchestrated by 'authors who are known political actors and commentators whose intention is to smear and tarnish police's image in the region'.

"Police will not hesitate to act in accordance with the law where activities of such political fanatics pose a threat to public order," Kigozi said.

Wine, a popular musician who turned MP in 2017, has been described as the new face of opposition by a section of Ugandans.

The legislator caused international headlines when he was brutally arrested by Ugandan soldiers in the northern town of Arua.

The outspoken Museveni critic has been frustrated by Ugandan security operatives, blocking him from performing at certain concerts in the country.

His latest song 'Tuliyambala Engule' has caused mixed reactions in the country as some religious leaders accuse him of 'mutilating' a gospel song into a political song.
